HAL-RAR Procedure (Hemorrhoidal Artery Ligation with Recto Anal Repair)
What Is HAL-RAR?
The HAL-RAR procedure combines two techniques:
-
HAL (Hemorrhoidal Artery Ligation): Using a special Doppler-guided proctoscope, the surgeon locates the arteries supplying blood to the hemorrhoids. These arteries are then gently tied off (ligated), reducing the blood flow and causing the hemorrhoids to shrink.
-
RAR (Recto Anal Repair): If prolapse (bulging) is present, the surgeon lifts and secures the remaining hemorrhoidal tissue back into its normal position using internal sutures.
Key Benefits:
-
Minimally invasive, no cutting or removal of tissue
-
Significantly less pain than traditional hemorrhoidectomy
-
Performed as a day-case procedure (no overnight hospital stay)
-
Quick return to daily activities
-
High success and patient satisfaction rates
Who Is It For?
HAL-RAR is ideal for patients with:

Prolapsed hemorrhoids that can be repositioned
